We had the new Tablet flagship Sony Xperia Tablet Z at MWC in Barcelona shortly in the hands. Now a pre-production model we in the Newsroom has arrived and we could carry out the first measurements in the test lab. Whether the Tablet offers more than a full-HD display and an elegant design, check out our practical test.
Strong hardware
The
5-inch Smartphone brother has the Xperia tablet a Snapdragon S4
processor with four cores and a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz also that
water and dust-proof housing, n Wi-Fi and LTE assume the Tablet as
features of the Xperia Z Smartphone. An 8-megapixel camera is also fitted. The internal memory of the Xperia Tablet Z is either 16 or 32 GB, there is also the operating system Android 4.1 stored. Upgrade to Android 4.2 will be released after the launch. Via a microSD card, you can also extend the memory. All grabs Sony in an only 7 mm tablet.
Prima readings
In
the lab, we could determine first battery readings: so the tablet in
the video playback stops by around 4 hours, when browsing the Xperia
Tablet Z must after about 5 hours back to the socket. Both
results are compared to other model only in the lower mid-range, the
Tablet weighs 500 grams - but just once and is therefore the lightest
10, 1-inch tablet of our leaderboard.
The full HD display Tablet Z convinced first readings as well as in the subjective test. HD videos and high resolution photos have sharper than at other tablets on display still. Not only the resolution, but also which contributes to this excellent LCD of the tabs. Sony installed a very clear, bright and also color-rich screen. Initial measurements indicate is the brightness of 350 candela per square meter.
Heavy handling
Although the software on our tablet was not yet final, the Android 4 is already very round. We
have noted only minor hitch when browsing - should Sony be able to
resolve this, an Android tablet on that same level of performance as
Apple's iPads reach can for the first time.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z will be available in the second quarter in the colours black and white. 639 Euro are required then for the version with LTE. For Wi-Fi variant with 32 GB Sony calls 549 euros as the price and the smallest issue with Wi-Fi and 16 GB will cost 499 euros.
CHIP online says:
Sony
delivers a cool tablet with the Xperia Tablet Z: at first touch, it
becomes clear that it is an exceptional Android tablet. Because despite 10 inches, the Z is slim and light. In terms of design, the Tablet corresponds to the Smartphone and follows a clear line. The full-HD display, the Z has a clear, bright and sharp, the performance is also class up on a few mini juddering. Although a preliminary series device in the model, it makes you want more. If Sony makes us a final pattern available, we will be testing this in detail.
